Clean Water Now Flowing at Sr Grace Library

Published by on

We are delighted to share the completion of another important project at Sr Grace Library in Chibolele, Chipulukusu – the drilling of a new borehole and the installation of a solar-powered water pumping system.

For many years, the community has struggled with an unreliable water supply due to the failure of the Kafue Water Scheme. As a result, many families have had little choice but to rely on hand-dug wells, which often do not provide safe, clean drinking water.

Unsafe water can have devastating consequences, contributing to the spread of waterborne diseases such as severe stomach infections and cholera, illnesses that can be life-threatening, particularly for young children and vulnerable adults.

Thanks to the new borehole and solar-powered pumping system, the library now has a reliable supply of clean, safe water throughout the year.

Most importantly, this clean water is available free of charge not only for everyone using the library but also for the surrounding community. Hundreds of local residents can now collect safe drinking water from the library every day, improving health and providing a dependable source of one of life’s most essential resources.

The Sr Grace Library continues to grow as much more than a place for books and learning. It has become a true community hub, supporting education while also meeting a vital need for the people of Chipulukusu.

This project has only been possible through the kindness and generosity of our supporters. Thank you for helping us make a lasting difference in the lives of the people of Chipulukusu.
