Sr Gracer Library Named One of the Best in the Copperbelt!

We are delighted to share some wonderful news from our library in Chibolele Chipulukusu!

In early June, as part of Library Commemoration Week, an initiative of the Ministry of Education in Zambia, our library was awarded the prize for “Best Library in Ndola offering a wide range of literacy activities with up-to-date teaching resources.”

This was a fantastic achievement and a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our librarians and everyone involved in developing and running the library.

Following our success in Ndola, we went forward to compete at provincial level the following week, where libraries from across the Copperbelt Province were represented.

We are extremely proud to say that our library finished second in the Copperbelt Province, behind only the Copperbelt University Library!

To be officially recognised as one of the best libraries in the Copperbelt is an extraordinary achievement for a community library which has grown from the efforts of a relatively small team of staff, volunteers and supporters.

Our library is about much more than books. Every week, children and adults come through its doors to read, study, take part in literacy activities, use educational resources and develop new skills. The library has become an important centre of education and opportunity for the community.

This award is a tribute to our dedicated library team in Zambia, whose enthusiasm and hard work continue to make the library better every day. It is also a tribute to all of our volunteers, donors and supporters who have helped us provide books, teaching materials, computers and educational opportunities to the communities where we work.

We may be a small organisation, supported by volunteers and part-time contributors, but this achievement shows what can be accomplished when people work together with a shared commitment to education.

And we are still growing, still improving and still working to provide even more opportunities for children and families in Chipulukusu and Ndola.

Congratulations to our fantastic library team in Zambia. We could not be prouder!
